![]() ![]() A, it's the 250GB model, which has a smaller cache, so maybe it's really doing the best it can. I'm going to see if there's a BIOS update that can fix the problem, and whether or not it does, I guess I'll live with it. Though I did notice that I forgot to peel the protective plastic on the thermal pad on the heat spreader. I might give that a try my motherboard (Asrock B550m-ITX) has a really weird system where the SSD is held down by the same screw as the heat spreader, so it's possible (if stupid) that something's misaligned. Someone on Samsung's support website mentioned seeing this problem, and fixing it by taking the drive out and plugging it back in. It didn't seem to fix anything, I'm still getting write speeds in the 500 to 600 MB/s range. It saw the drive and ran a very fast little process then told me "press any key to restart." If I run it again, it says "This SSD has already been updated." I did just burn the firmware update to a USB disk, it booted to it. Add SSDs to the list of shit I don't buy from Samsung anymore. Does that need "fixing?"ĮDIT: Apparently I have the worst one in history. I just ran a benchmark, I'm seeing write speeds of ~615MB/s. Unfortunately this is relevant to my interests. ![]()
